Janet Duncan, New Zealand artist Janet Duncan grew up in New Zealand before working in Australia and settling in the U.S. Today, she's become a full-time American woman in art.

Janet spent most of her life studying geography and teaching in the Massachusetts higher education system, for over 35 years. On a trip back to New Zealand, she promised her sister that she would take art lessons on her return.

Entering the world of New England art, she started at the Danforth Museum School in Framingham, Massachusetts. Soon she began to study with nationally-known watercolorist Skip Lawrence at his famous Pemaquid, Maine workshop. Every July her family gives Janet permission to disappear for two weeks to study watercolor painting with Skip and a great group of like-minded artists.

Since deciding to paint full-time, Janet has established herself as a woman artist in Boston and Kennebunk-port, Maine, residing both places throughout the year.
